Jean McClellan

Surrounded by some of her loving family, Jean Stewardson McClellan left behind the trials and tears of this life on Friday, August 31, 2012 and entered into Glory where she will spend eternity with her Lord and Savior. Born on March 15, 1937 to George and Vlema Stewardson, she grew up in the tiny community of Shields, Texas, just south of Santa Anna. She met her high school sweetheart, Jasper McClellan at Santa Anna High school. They maintained a romance via correspondence after he joined the Air Force. He sent her a plane ticket to join him in France where they were married on September 26 & 27, 1959 in both French and American ceremonies. She hosted counteless Navigator Bible studies in her home for many years, offering home-cooked meals to young airmen who were far away from their homes. Later in life, she was active with the local Republican Women and Pachyderm Clubs. A true embodiment of the Proverbs 31 woman, Jean poured hours of love into countless quilts for friends and family and even crocheted and knitted afghans for babies who have been saved through the local crisis pregnancy center. It was her loving hanit to be Extremely soft spoken and gentle natured, she had an inner strength stronger than most. On two occasions, she ably parented their four daughters for over a year at a time while her husband was deployed overseas with the USAF. She was the ideal military wife willing to travel worldwide wherever the USAF sent. She liekwise was the perfect minister's wife, willingly moving at God's beck and call. She was far more than just a Biblical help,mate in both ministry and mission. For several congregations over the years she was organist/pianist as well as secretary. She was solely responsible for weekly bulletins and monthly newsletters for years. A memorial service will be at First Presbytarian Church San Angelo, Sunday, Sept. 2, at 7:00 P.M. The church's pastor, the Rev. Bill Proctor officiating. Interment will be Monday Sept. 3 at 10:00 A.M. At Stewardson Cemetery south of Santa Anna. Rev. Lakan Mariano will be officiating. Arrangements by Walker Funeral Home of Coleman. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Jasper William McClellan. Her daughters, Jene' McClellan of Houston, JoAnna Speciale and husband Phil of San Angelo, Joy Carrillo and husband Victor of Rockwall, Julia Lee and husband Jeff of Syracuse, Utah. Her grandchildren, Joshua and Shonna Speciale, Matthew Speciale, Moriah Speciale, Zachary Speciale, Laura and Adam Taylor, Christina Carrillo, Grace Carrillo, Benjamine Lee, Damaris Lee, Grant Lee, Gideon Lee and Reese Lee and great grandson Jackson William Taylor. She is also survived by her sister Kathryn Watson and brother-in-law Darwin Watson. She will be missed by her sisters-in-law, Novelle Boylston, Frances Pierce, Joan (and Ralph) Brisbin, Carol McClellan and her many nieces, nephews and cousins. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to a charity of your choice.
