October 1, 1933 - April 28, 2009

CORPUS CHRISTI -- Charles L. Wilson, 75, unexpectedly passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at a local hospital. Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Lucas Hurst Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, with the Rev. Lawrence Hammond officiating. Interment: 12:30 p.m. in Chico Cemetery, Chico. Visitation: The family will receive friends Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. at Lucas Hurst Funeral Home. Memorials: Donations in his name to honor his memory may be made to the American Heart Association or a charity of choice. Charles was born Oct. 1, 1933, in Bridgeport and lived in Chico until he went to work for Armour & Co. in Fort Worth. In 1954 he and his wife, Sue, moved to Corpus Christi with Armour & Co. He was in sales for his entire career spanning 50 years. He was active in the community and volunteered for the Corpus Christi Chapter for Organ Donations. He was an avid baseball fan and was a season ticketholder for the Corpus Christi Hooks baseball team. He was also an avid Cowboys Football fan. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him. Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Sue; his parents, Claude and Ola Ogle Wilson; and brother, Doss Wilson. Survivors: Daughter, Vicky Powell of Haslet; son, Charles Wilson II of Corpus Christi; grandsons, Stuart and Travis Powell of Haslet; and a very special friend, Katherine Robinson and her sons, James and Phil Robinson, all of Hurst. He is also survived by his family of Armour & Co. retirees.
