FORT WORTH -- Jonne Hightower Spivey was born Sept. 28, 1914, in Thorp Spring and passed away at the age of 93 years on Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, in Fort Worth. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Tuesday in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Fort Worth. Visitation: The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Lucas Funeral Home, 517 N. Sylvania Ave. in Fort Worth. She was a devoted wife and loving mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She gave her entire family a great appreciation for life and laughter. Jonne Spivey was the daughter of William Thomas Hightower, a pioneer educator in Texas, and Judith Irene Walsh Hightower. At an early age she moved to Fort Worth and was a lifetime resident of the city. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Milam Pierce Spivey; her grandson, Joseph Conrad Spivey; her brothers, Carlton, Paul, Harley, Charles, Wilber and Cato Hightower; and sister, Mineola Sanders. Survivors: Daughters, Sally Pica of Ardmore, Okla., Judy Howard of Fort Worth, Diane Belew and husband, William Belew of Stamford, Conn.; son, Patrick Spivey and wife, Rosie of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandchildren, Sabra Emde of Ardmore, Okla., Joseph Pica of Edmond, Okla., Ryan Howard of Fort Worth, Greg Belew of New York, N.Y., Chris Belew of Austin, Cristy Whitehead of Austin, Miguel Spivey of Corpus Christi, Jessica Spivey of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Daniel Spivey of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
