May 14, 1958 - October 10, 2006

HASLET -- Michelle "Shelly" Lee Stevens Williams passed away Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at the age of 48 years. Funeral: 4 p.m. Thursday at North Fort Worth Baptist Church. Burial: Smithfield Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Smithfield Elementary. Memorials: To honor Shelly's memory, the family requests memorials to the Scottish Rite Children's Hospital or Cook Children's Medical Center. Shelly was born May 14, 1958, in Fort Worth and had lived in the Fort Worth area her entire life. She graduated from Richland High School in 1976. She continued her education at Texas Tech University, where she received her bachelor of science in education in 1980, and received her master's in education from Texas Womans University in 1995. Her career in education included positions as teacher, coach and assistant principal. She was currently principal at Smithfield Elementary, where she had served for the past eight years. Shelly was not only the principal, but she was friend and confidant. She loved her "kids" and devoted her entire career to making a difference in these young children's lives. She was an avid outdoorswoman and very sports-minded. She loved the games of golf and softball and was a loyal Red Raider fan. Shelly lived her life with adventure, vitality, confidence and grace. Shelly's spirit will continue to live on because of her gift of organ donations. She was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Joe Stevens. Survivors: Husband, Ricky Williams of Haslet; mother, Ouida Stevens of North Richland Hills; stepchildren, Kristin Williams of Waco and Brian Williams of Stephenville; brother, Mike and wife, Lisa Stevens, of Midland; nephews, Brooks Stevens of Dallas and Brett Stevens of Lubbock; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Laverne and Wendell Williams of North Richland Hills; brother-in-law and sister-in-Law, Lisa and Roger Williams of North Richland Hills; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
